Carers Week 2020

National Carers Week usually takes place during June every year. It’s an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of carers and to highlight their need for support. Many local groups around the UK use the week to highlight their services and to reach out to carers that are not known to existing services.

Carers Week 2020 8th—14th June Making Caring Visible

Please view the activities during this week.  We will be holding these sessions using virtual meetings.  It is important that you register your interest prior to the meeting date in order to be able to access the meetings.

 8th – Carers Week raffle.  from 2pm-4pm £1 per ticket. It will be launched on the 8th and drawn on the 14th.   The link will be posted closer to the time for purchasing tickets. Prizes include a No 7 gift set, a Jack Daniels set, jewellery, chocolates, wine


 8th – Scavenger Hunt
is running all week, £2 to enter. Once you have signed up you will be sent the items and instructions. A great chance to get the family involved.  The prize is an exciting gift hamper.


 9th – Our photo contest winner to be announced.
It has already been launched. £2 to enter and all entries to be sent to nadine@thecarerscentre.org.uk by 1st June. The prize is a memory multi picture frame

9th – First Aid session 10am – 1pm
Steve, our fabulous First Aid Trainer, has kindly offered to deliver a virtual Basic First Aid for Carers training session via a Zoom video group. Steve will send out resource packs and information before the session so that you can follow all the instructions at home.  10th – Crafty Carers

10th – Dementia Session – 11:00am-12:30pm The Alzhiemers Society will be talking to carers who are looking for additional support.  For more information and to sign up for access to the zoom meeting,  please contact nadine@thecarerscentre.org.uk. 

11th – Writing Competition winner to be announced. It was launched on the 11th May on our FaceBook page. £2 to enter and all entries to be sent to nadine@thecarerscentre.org.uk by 1st June. The prize is a journal and pen set

Self-Help Group at 11am – 12pm  Gill and Charles will be launching the first virtual Self Help Group on Thursday 11th June at 11am The first session will be a casual group with lots of opportunity to chat and figure out how the Self Help Group will run for the near future. As ever, we want to ensure that the topics and issues discussed are led by carers so the launch will focus on looking at what things YOU want the future group sessions to explore. It’ll take a bit of getting used to for all of us, so we want to make sure that there is plenty of support available for anyone who wishes to get involved.  12th – Virtual Carers Cuppa,  at 11am-12pm
Carers Cuppa Join us for a virtual ‘Carers Cuppa’ where we’ll be there to chat about anything that comes to mind!
Have a cup of tea (other drinks are available!) and a biscuit whilst enjoying a catch up with other carers and Carers Centre staff.
