CHRISTMAS CARER’s CUPPA

Where: At Leicester Secular Hall, 75 Humberstone Gate, Leicester, LE1 1WB

When: Tuesday 4th December   Time: 11am – 3:30pm  Event Details: Come along for luxurious hot chocolate or other drinks available, mince pies and cakes. Tombola on night.

CARER’S CHRISTMAS MEAL

QUIZ NIGHT

This has been a very popular event over the past couple of years!!!  With HIGH demand, we have arranged for another which will be held on Friday 23rd November 2018.  Time:  Doors open at 7:00pm for a 7:30pm Start,  at Stoneygate Baptist Church, London Road .   Tickets can be purchased at the door, the fee is : £15 per team or £3 per individual.  We can arrange individuals into groups on the night. The Autism meeting is open to people from the City, County and Rutland.  It is for carers, parents and friends of people who have Autism.  The Forum covers a range of topics covering Autism and Caring

Leicester City Carers of People who have a Learning Disability Group.  The Group aims to raise issues affecting carers of adults and young people in transitions who have a Learning Disability with the Leicester City Learning Disability Partnership Board and, where appropriate, other relevant services. 

The next meetings are scheduled for:   Date:  Thursday 22nd November 2018   Time: 11a m – 1pm         Topics  Tom Elkington from the City Council will be at this meeting to discuss Learning Disability Strategy.

The City Mental Health Family Carers Group meeting, The meeting is open to people from the City, who are carers of a person who has a Mental Health disability or needs additional support due to their mental health.

Prepared to Care with Confidence….  Covering CITY, COUNTY, RUTLAND.

A FREE popular and essential support programme for anyone caring for a family member or friend, with any condition.   Caring for a chronically ill or disabled loved one can have a huge impact on your own health and wellbeing, many say they feel isolated, experience feelings of being unable to cope, unsure where to go for advice and support or feel they are not being heard.  Others say they would like the chance to meet others in a similar situation.  Caring with Confidence can help with these problems and is held in a relaxed and friendly environment with a facilitator who is also a carer. It offers a wider range of topics and will be supported by the information sessions held at The Carers Centre.  The programme runs for six weeks so come to as many sessions as you can. The programme runs over six weeks so come to as many sessions as you can.

Venue: West Indian Senior Citizen’s Project at 29 Sparkenhoe Street, Leicester, LE2 0TD. Time: 10:30am – 1pm.

Finding Your Way – An introductory session, which welcomes you to the programme and explains more about each session and how it can help in your caring role. It looks at the importance of your health and wellbeing, and to start to explore your concerns.

Caring and Coping – Gives you time and space to look at the emotions involved in looking after someone and how to recognise and deal with stress more effectively.

Managing Stress Effectively – Relaxation and how NOT to avoid it!! Reiterate the negative effect of stress on you, physically and your behaviour.  Learn how to achieve a relaxation response, through simple relaxation techniques including mindfulness to incorporate in everyday life.  Explore ways to help you juggle your caring role and find valuable time for yourself!

Caring and Communication – Helps you get the best from communicating with professionals and service providers.  Ideas to help with self-advocacy and find out more about local support available to you.

Caring Day to Day- The essentials of caring for someone every day from managing medication to dealing with emergrncies.  Discussions around equipment and technology available to help keep someone safe in their own home.  Look at Moving and Handling and risks involved.  Do we always think about them?

Caring, Working & Life – Invites you to take time out and think about how to juggle competing demands and how your caring role fits with other aspects of your life.  Explore an approach to thinking creatively to help you make any changes to your life.

You can bring a friend or a family member if you think they could also benefit.  Complimentary refreshments are provided.

Carers Social Support Group…..Welcomes all carers who would like to come along and join a group of other carers in a social and relaxed setting.  This can be at a local café, activities group or social day in the park.  We are open to any interests and suggestions you have to share.  Please find the following next dates and times:
