Who is a carer?
A carer is anyone who looks after a family member, partner or friend who needs help because of their illness, frailty, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction and cannot cope without their support. The care they give is unpaid.
These people are called carers but many people would probably say they were just "looking after someone".

Engagement & Involvement
We aim to involve carers wherever we can in decsion making that affects their lives.
We offer supported opportunities for carers to get involved and influence the decisions that are made by services such as health and social care.
We provide consultation sessions and workshops as well as sharing information about how to have your say through surveys and 1-2-1 interviews.

Respite Directory Support
Carers need respite (time off) and many people tell us how they struggle to take any time out for themselves because of their caring responsibilities.
We can support you to figure out what service could be best for you and the person you're caring for, whether that be a day centre, residential home, a sitter or even a short break away.
Speak to us about using our Respite Directory Service to help you find alternative care services.
