Carol Hill

How did I become involved?

In the past I have been a carer to family members and know how difficult it can be juggling work, family, the caring role and where to go for help and advice. Before working for The Carers Centre I was employed by 2 other charities also covering Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. I have involved the Carers Centre work in both of these roles , from having a stand at a health and well being event to the running of a carers craft group and information sessions. Having worked in the field of health and social care for most of my career I have always felt that getting carers information out and involving carers is vital, Therefore when I had the chance to become one of the team how could I resist?

What do I do?

Well no two days are ever the same! Working part time, as do the rest of the time, I manage all the services we offer and the staff that run them. This ranges from the Health and Wellbeing project – delivering such sessions as Tia Chi, mindfulness and chair exercises to name a few. The Together We Care project- that includes regular sessions for working adults, parent carers and adult carers ,these provide a chance for carers to come together to talk through issues that are important to them alongside information sessions on a wide variety of subjects the group have requested. Our Crafty Carers and Time For Me project provides a space to have fun and try something new. From quiz nights to an ever changing variety of games, to trying different crafts such as diamond painting to chocolate bouquets!

If on reading this you would like more information please get in touch and we can talk to you about what we offer or have a look at the web pages under Find Support. I look forward to seeing you soon .
