What’s Your Role at The Carers Centre?
I’m one of the Carer Support Workers. I work part time. As a support worker I meet and greet carers, offer advice and information and signpost carers to other sources of support. I also support other colleagues where and when needed.
How did you get involved with The Carers Centre?
I first got involved with The Carers Centre when my daughter was around 3 years old. She had recently been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy .Over the years The Carers Centre became a great source of support. The events and training available from The Carers Centre offered me the chance to be me and not just my daughter’s carer.
Several years later I became a volunteer for The Carers Centre and eventually was successful in applying for and getting the position I currently have.
