What’s Your Role at The Carers Centre?
I am the Communications Officer and I work part time/flexible hours.
My role includes building and maintaining The Carers Centre LeicesterShire and Rutland’s new website and promoting services and events via The Carers Centre LeicesterShire and Rutland’s social media sites – Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
How did you get involved with The Carers Centre?
I first got involved with The Carers Centre shortly after moving to the East Midlands in 2006 with my sons one of which has additional needs. Being new to the region I needed support and The Carers Centre was one of the organisations I found that had a great amount of experience in supporting carers.
Although it was quite a distance to travel I tried to attend a variety of groups ranging from Carers Support Carers, Crafts, Wills and Trust and Coffee Mornings. I was hooked and soon became a volunteer promoting The Carers Centre LeicesterShire and Rutland’s events and activities in a e-newsletter I produced and on social media sites.
So when I saw the advert for the post of Communications Officer I thought why not apply for it? Hence I am writing this.
