What’s Your Role at The Carers Centre?
I am a Senior Advocacy Worker.
How did you get involved with The Carers Centre?
My role at The Carers Centre is to deliver self-advocacy and support groups – one for parents/carers of children and young people with SEND under 25 and the other for carers of adults plus monthly support groups for working carers. These groups are known as the Together We Care Groups.
My background is in advocacy – most recently at SENDIASS where I provided information, advice and advocacy support to parents/carers of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. Originally trained as a social worker, I have mainly worked within the voluntary sector – both with individuals and also supporting voluntary sector organisations to influence the strategic planning of health and social care services.
